 OUR PHILOSOPHY

We are dedicated to the core principles of the Long-Term Player Development model. We recognize that players develop at varying rates and require tailored guidance at each stage of their journey. Each age group and program within our organization follows a specific training curriculum designed to build upon previous stages, ensuring every player and team reaches their full potential.

We place a strong emphasis on work ethic, discipline, respect, and a positive attitude towards our training. Our programs strive to cultivate well-rounded individuals who embody our values both on and off the ice. Ottawa 67’s players take ownership of their growth and development, showing respect for their teammates, coaches, programs, facilities, and the game itself.

Development Pillars

The 67's pillars represent our foundational principles for player development throughout the season. Each pillar focuses on enhancing our team's performance and fostering individual growth.

Create Space

We prioritize movement and deception, encouraging players to cut through hands, get off the walls, and focus on positioning over mere possession. This includes improving skating techniques with the puck, emphasizing edges and smooth power for fluid transitions.

Dictate the Play

Our strategy involves playing at a fast pace while supporting the puck carrier. By mastering angling and maintaining a forward gap, we aim to control the tempo of the game and impose our style on opponents.

Rush Defence

Transitioning swiftly from defense to offense is key. We empower our defenders to play an offensive role, limiting opponents' effective space and forcing them into reactive positions that disrupt their decision-making.

Create Green Shots

We focus on generating high-quality scoring chances, known as “green shots,” by ensuring the goalie cannot see the puck, is not set, and that the shot is taken quickly (within 0.5 seconds) to maximize scoring opportunities.

Patient | Present | Deliberate

Our approach emphasizes being patient, present in the moment, and deliberate in our actions. This mindset fosters better decision-making and encourages players to stay focused and intentional during gameplay.
