Get ready to prepare for the upcoming season with the Ottawa 67's Summer Program! Our comprehensive training initiatives are designed to equip athletes with the necessary skills, strength, and knowledge to excel both on and off the ice. This program is a gateway for players of all levels, providing an enriching experience to develop their physical and mental game.
The on-ice portion of the Ottawa 67's Summer Program is designed to provide athletes with an immersive and hands-on skills training experience. During these dedicated sessions, players will have the opportunity to develop their technical abilities and personal skills under the guidance of highly qualified coaches and experienced athletes.
Each training session will concentrate on specific skill sets, including:
A key component of the on-ice program is the emphasis on building trusting and lasting relationships between players and coaches. The coaching staff, which includes Jessica Schroeder, Perfect Skating, PWHL players, and former/current NCAA and U Sports athletes, will create a supportive environment where athletes feel comfortable seeking guidance and feedback. This collaboration fosters open communication, allowing players to express their concerns, ask questions, and gain valuable insights from those with firsthand experience at high levels of competition.
Through this engaging and dynamic on-ice training, athletes will not only refine their skills but also develop a deeper understanding of the game, setting them up for success in the upcoming season. The combination of expert coaching, high-level drills, and strong mentor relationships will empower players to reach their full potential and lay a solid foundation for their hockey careers.
In partnership with the Canadian Strength Institute, our off-ice training offers a full comprehensive training plan tailored to meet the needs of our athletes. This includes in-person training options, as well as a structured at-home strength program. Athletes can participate in weekly testing and have the flexibility to train in person daily throughout the week.
This program emphasizes tracking progress and identifying milestones for each player. Regular monitoring will ensure that athletes are continually advancing and achieving their fitness goals, helping them build strength, endurance, and athleticism essential for the rink.
We are thrilled to introduce our Player Mentorship Program, created to offer vital guidance and support as our athletes navigate their educational and athletic aspirations. Led by Sarah Thompson of Thompson High Performance, this program centers on post-secondary options and hockey recruitment, featuring workshops that empower players to make informed decisions about their futures.
Participants will be connected with current university players, including Abby Glandon, Emma Eryou, Marieve Roussel, Tristan Thompson, Tiff Hill, and Sarah Howell. These mentors will share their experiences and insights, providing valuable advice on skill enhancement, college life, and the balance between academics and athletics.
Athletes engaging in the program can look forward to regular workshops and personalized mentorship sessions. Mentors will create an open dialogue around the challenges of pursuing a post-secondary education and provide essential support to ensure players feel informed and encouraged throughout their journey.
This initiative addresses the key questions players face as they transition from youth to advanced levels of competition. From course selection to exploring career opportunities and understanding college expectations, the Player Mentorship Program delivers tailored guidance that aligns with each athlete's unique goals and aspirations.
